Sabbath. Study. Serve

Sabbath, Study, Serve
Taking the Sermon Into Our Week

Scripture of the Week: Nahum 2: 1-13

From the Sermon:
Even though Nahum is among the more hopeful prophecies for the Israelites, in parts of it, especially at the beginning God through the prophet is convicting them for their _____ as well.
The Assyrians are being punished for their ______ and _______.
The _____________ and _________ of God go hand in hand.

We find that God also offered love through Christ as the ________________, and Christ the son speaks to God the father in our defense.

God’s justice also requires us to act with___________.

Reflection Questions:
How can the church be a people of justice?

Prayer:

God, we confess that sometimes we act like we are the ones who need to bring punishment and judgment as forms of justice. We try to act as if we are God, judging the people around us, instead of placing them in your hands. Forgive us, O Lord, and instead remind us that we are required to act with justice - the hard justice of treating our neighbors as we wish to be treated. Break our hard hearts and set us aright, we pray. Amen.
