Sabbath. Study. Serve.

Sabbath, Study, Serve
Taking the Sermon Into Our Week

Scripture of the Week:

From the Sermon:

In 24 short verses of 1 Kings 17 there are ____________________.

God, even in the wilderness, provides for Elijah’s __________ and _________.

All throughout the Hebrew Scriptures people are commanded to take care of the ________, the _______, and the ____________.

They stand in need and God meets their ___________ in ways beyond their ___________.

Reflection:
What are we in need of today? And are we letting ourselves be ministered to by God, even in the most unexpected of ways?

How are we in solidarity with people like this widow? How is God just waiting to use us to touch the lives of others in ways that restore their dignity and give them a future with hope?

Prayer:

Lord, we confess that there are times when we have not looked after the needs of others. In fact, there have even been times, O Lord, when we have blamed them. Forgive us, by your grace, and restore in us your heart of compassion, we pray. Amen.
